Why ACTIVE Honey?

Not all honey is the same. Some honeys are simply sweeteners. Others carry remarkable natural properties — and our ACTIVE range belongs firmly in that second category.

The science, in plain English

"TA" stands for Total Activity, and it's a measurement of two things working together in eucalyptus honey:

  1. Hydrogen peroxide activity — naturally produced when honey meets moisture
  2. Non-peroxide factors — antibacterial compounds unique to Western Australian eucalyptus varieties

Each batch of our ACTIVE honey is tested in a laboratory against a standard antibacterial antiseptic. The higher the TA number, the closer (or stronger) the honey performs compared with that reference. It's a measured, certified rating — not a marketing claim.

Why eucalyptus?

Total Activity occurs only in honey made from certain eucalyptus tree flowers. Western Australia is one of the few places in the world where these eucalypts grow in abundance — jarrah, marri (red gum), yarri (blackbutt), wandoo and karri among them. Each carries its own profile and produces honey with its own character and activity level.

What the TA number means for you

TA Rating Typical use
TA 15+ to 20+ Daily wellness, soothing sore throats, fighting off mild infections, immune support
TA 30+ to 50+ Exceptionally potent. Targeted wound care, a natural alternative for common ailments where you might reach for antibacterial cream or over-the-counter antibiotics

How we produce it

Our ACTIVE honey is:

  • Raw — never heat-treated, preserving the natural enzymes and antibacterial properties
  • Cold-extracted — most of the work is done by hand to protect the honey's integrity
  • Single-origin Western Australian eucalyptus — sourced from our migratory hives across the state
  • Jarred in glass wherever possible, to keep it pristine

A note on use

ACTIVE honey is a wonderful natural product, but it's not a substitute for medical advice. If you have a serious wound, infection, or persistent ailment, please see your doctor. We make honey, not medicine — though many of our customers use ours as part of a natural wellness routine.
